FAQs

  • The first session is a time for us to connect and start building the therapeutic relationship. More practically, it’s a space for you to share what brought you to counselling and for me to learn more about you and your world. This means I’ll ask questions about your social life, your family, your career, your medical history, your relationships, your overall health, and more. I’ll also share my approach, and we will collaborate on what working together looks like.

  • We offer in-person and virtual sessions. If we’re meeting virtually, you’ll receive a link to join via the Jane App prior to your appointment.

In-person appointments are offered in two locations: OneSpace in East Vancouver, or downtown at Avery Therapy Centre. We can discuss which location and availability works best for you in our consult.

  • Yes, but it depends on your provider! We do not bill directly, however many extended benefits packages cover counselling by Registered Clinical Counsellors. This means, we’ll provide a receipt and license number following your appointment so you can submit to your benefits! We recommend contacting your benefits provider to understand your coverage.

  • Life happens! If you need to cancel your appointment, we ask for 24 hours notice. This allows us to open up the slot for another client. If you need to cancel within 24 hours, we may charge a fee.

  • That is a-okay! There is no “right” way to show up in counselling, and my approach prioritizes you feeling safe and informed about the work we’re doing together. If it’s your first time, we’ll take space in the first session to talk about what counselling is and what you can expect.

  • Nope! Diagnosis or not, you are welcome here. We’ll discuss what’s going on in your life, how you’re feeling, and how I can help. If you want to work through an existing diagnosis, book a consult and I can let you know if I’m the right fit for you. If not, I can refer you on to someone specialized in that area :) If you are looking for a diagnosis, I can also share the pathways to getting that kind of help.

Registered Clinical Counsellors cannot diagnose, but we can refer you to Psychologists and other specialists who do!
